Identification Notes:
spores are pales ocher; growth up to 4 inches; cap diameter up to 5 inches, bright yellow. Russula ochroleuca (Ocher Brittlegill) is also yellow but is a duller yellow with more ocher tones and appears in mixed woodlands, not just wet areas. Russula solaris is of similar shades but occurs in calcerous woodlands with beech. Neither species turns gray when bruised or with age.
